Why We Exist

Local businesses are the heartbeat of every neighborhood. They create jobs, add character, and support the people around them — but the deck is stacked against them.

In today's world of fast deliveries and big-box chains, small shops get squeezed, independent suppliers stay isolated from the retailers who'd buy from them, and delivery drivers get gig-economy wages instead of a living one.

BuyNearby exists to fix that. We're a for-profit company, but our business is built on social enterprise values: we unify isolated suppliers and connect them to new retailers and possibilities, give stores the last-mile delivery and organization they need to run like a big chain, back every owner with an AI Cofounder, and make sure the drivers who deliver it all earn a living wage — and much more.

Our Story

BuyNearby comes out of 8 years spent personally running retail and wholesale businesses — not from a deck. The isolated suppliers, the last-mile headaches, the underpaid delivery work — every pain point we build for is one we lived first.

While big corporations invest millions in tech, independent businesses lack the tools to compete. We saw it firsthand — family grocers, neighborhood markets, and wholesale suppliers all needing the same digital support, just from different angles.

BuyNearby bridges this gap with seamless online ordering, same-day delivery, and tools built for Calgary's small shops.
